Procedure

Heat phase A ingredients in a suitable vessel to 70-80°C until completely melted and homogeneous. In a separate vessel, heat phase B ingredients to 70-80°C.When phase A and B are at 70-80°C, slowly add phase B to phase A with continuous mixing at 300-500 rpm. Mix until uniform. Cool batch to 50-60°C. Add Fixate* Superhold Polymer to batch. Mix until uniform. Neutralize batch with sodium hydroxide. Continue cooling batch.  In a separate vessel, pre-mix phase E ingredients. When batch has cooled to 50°C, add phase E to batch.  Add phase F ingredients to batch one at a time. Mix until uniform. When batch temperature reaches 40-45°C, stop mixing. Pour batch into suitable containers at 40°C.

Properties

Appearance: Shimmering yellow soft gluey paste
pH:  6.5 - 7.0
Viscosity (mPa·s)**:  90,000 - 110,000
Yield Value (dyn/cm²):    500 - 600
Stability:  Passed 3 months @ 45°C,
        25°C and 4°C,  5 cycles freeze/thaw
Fixate Superhold Polymer (wt% TS)    2.0

**Brookfield Viscometer DV-II+, Spindle 7. Initial viscosity was taken after 24 hours at 25°C. Succeeding viscosities were taken at 40°C.

Note: The texture of this hair glue can be modified by reducing the amount of oleth-10 and 20 in half, resulting in a viscosity of ~14,000 mPa·s.
